Dr. Evan Dellon

Evan S. Dellon is Professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, the Director of the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease Clinical Research Core as well as of the UNC Center for Esophageal Diseases and Swallowing. Dr. Dellon’s goal is to improve the lives of patients with eosinophilic esophagitis and other eosinophilic GI diseases (EGIDs) through his intensive research on their epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment.
Dr. Dellon played a leading role in the developing of major clinical guidelines, participated in over 40 clinical trials, has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications and served as an Associate Editor for Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His work has been recognized by the AGA William Beaumont Prize in Gastroenterology (2025), the UNC Ruth and Phillip Hettleman Prize (2012) and the ACG Junior Faculty Career Development Award (2010). Dr. Dellon received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He has completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as a fellowship in Adult Gastroenterology and an MPH in Epidemiology at UNC.
